Nicki Minaj’s ex, rapper Safaree Samuels, stopped by The Casey Crew podcast to dish about one big reveal that everyone has been talking about this week, but since the podcast is all about relationships, he dropped a bombshell about his relationship with the female rapper that no one expected to come out of his mouth.
Safaree had everyone writing dissertations about what “big” and “too big” meant when pictures of his lower region were “leaked” online. General consensus, though, was that the 36-year-old lacked absolutely nothing in that area, and going forward, the man will have absolutely no problem getting a date for the rest of his life. This also sparked some people to come to the conclusion that his natural-born asset was the reason Nicki stayed with him for so many years.
But Safaree spilled some extra hot tea on The Casey Crew podcast where he said that his ex was verbally and physically abusive, something that actually kept him around for years.
While talking to DJ Envy and his wife, Gia Casey, Envy flat out said that Safaree was “abused,” recalling personal stories of Nicki being controlling and abusive toward Safaree.
“I don’t wanna say you were battered but you were an abused boyfriend… sometimes Safaree couldn’t leave the crib,” Envy said. “I swear on everything!”
Safaree agreed, saying that one of the ways he had to trick Nicki into letting him out of the house was by saying he needed to run by the store real quick, but he gave a quick reason as to why she behaved that way (which in no way should be an excuse).
“…it’s because she was sheltered, she’s in her cocoon and I’m there with her. I didn’t really have a life outside of that,” he said. “I was really comfortable, but then the fights and stuff, it was getting too crazy. I was like, you know what? I don’t wanna go to jail, I don’t wanna go to the hospital.
Gia asked what they would fight about, and the Jamaican rapper shared one story about Nicki demanding that he go get her purse from an upstairs room in their home.
“I usually never ever ever say stuff, but I’m going to say this one time. It was one time, it was something…I left and came back…she wanted me to get a bag for her…’yo, go upstairs and grab my bag for me,’ but it’s just, the way it was said, I’m not going to get it. You can’t just keep talking to me like that. I’m not gonna go get it,” he said.
Even DJ Envy said the the “No Frauds” rapstress was verbally abusive to him, calling him a b-tch ass n-gga.
Although Safaree alleges that Nicki put her hands on him many times and verbally berated him, he never popped back on her. He said, “I’m not a confrontational person. I thank God for that.”
And as a battered man, it really did take him some time to recover. He said that it took 4 1/2 years to regain his confidence and self-esteem, which is why he dedicated himself to improving his body.
“I’m not going to be having hands put on me and the verbal, it’s like, yo, it takes a while to get over that, like people see me, I wasn’t like, it took me a while to have my confidence…that’s why I was going to the gym so hard because I’m like, yo, I feel like sh-t, I gotta do something to feel good about myself. Let me get a six-pack,” he said.
As one of the stars on Love & Hip Hop: New York, Safaree comes off as very corny, but considering what he has gone through with his ex, I am looking forward to seeing him shine in his own right.
